Whilst children often require guidance and ‘a push in the right direction’, they should be provided the space to arrive at decisions and conclusions themselves, and the freedom to harbour seemingly-ambitious aspirations in accordance with their interests. However, in proposing that children are granted a large amount of freedom, they should also be subjected to appropriate disciplinary measures when required. If possible, in order to aid positive development, children should be raised within a secure environments and be granted the right to have parental figures in their lives.
